Gold prices drop

The new pricing will be effective across the country from Tuesday

Gold prices have been reduced in the local market.

According to the latest decision, announced by the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) on Monday, the price of 22-carat gold has been set at Tk1,67,680 per bhori.

The new pricing will be effective across the country from Tuesday.

As per the revised rates, 21-carat gold is priced at Tk1,60,865 per bhori, 18-carat gold Tk1,38,606 per bhori, and traditional gold Tk1,14,577 per bhori.

Meanwhile, the new price of 22-carat silver has been fixed at Tk2,810 per bhori. For 21-carat, the rate is now Tk2,680 per bhori, while 18-carat silver will cost Tk2,297 per bhori. Traditional silver will be sold at Tk1,726 per bhori.

Bajus said that the new prices have been determined in line with the international market and based on domestic demand and supply, import costs, and the exchange rate of the US dollar.

Previously, on Saturday, the price of 22-carat gold had been reduced to Tk1,70,880 per bhori.

Within just two days, the price has dropped again, with a further decrease of Tk3,200 per bhori.
