Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin has said that Bangladesh is now a unique example of growth and development on the global stage.
"With extensive socio-economic progress, the country now aspires to become an upper-middle-income nation by 2031," the adviser said while speaking at a program organized to mark "Bangladesh Day" at World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, on Sunday afternoon.
He highlighted that Bangladesh's growing youth population and stable economic growth have elevated the country's prosperity.
The adviser urged global business leaders to become partners in Bangladesh’s journey toward becoming a developed and prosperous nation.
Calling for greater investment and the exploration of business opportunities in Bangladesh, he emphasized the need to work collaboratively for future generations by leveraging technology and shared experience.
Encouraging visitors to explore the Bangladesh Pavilion, he said it showcases the country's rich history, culture, and heritage.
Designed as a symbol bridging tradition and future society, the pavilion features a wooden structure that exemplifies zero-carbon and sustainable practices.
He further noted that, along with a growing domestic market, Bangladesh has emerged as a strategic hub for Asean countries, making it a potential key trade partner in the region.
Referring to the July-August uprising led by the youth, he said it has opened new avenues of possibility.
He added that developed countries can take advantage of Bangladesh’s liberal investment regime, particularly in sectors such as ready-made garments, leather, pharmaceuticals, light engineering, information technology, jute and jute goods, and ceramics.
Speaking as a special guest, Japan’s State Minister of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Ogushi Masaki, said Japan has maintained diplomatic and economic ties with Bangladesh since 1972.
"This relationship continues to grow, and Japan's support will remain strong during Bangladesh’s transition from LDC status in 2026," he added.
