There is no reason to panic over the suspension of some export orders, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam has said.
“We have consistently said that we are taking steps to increase, not decrease, Bangladesh’s exports to the United States,” he told reporters at a press briefing at InterContinental Dhaka on Monday.
In response to questions from journalists regarding growing concerns among business leaders over suspended export orders, Shafiqul downplayed the issue, calling it temporary.
“I believe these are short-term issues. There is no need to panic,” he reiterated. “We have assured the business community that the measures we are undertaking will lead to an increase in exports to the US.”
Shafiqul added that a “very constructive” meeting took place with business leaders on Sunday, which included former BGMEA president Faruque Hassan, BKMEA Executive President Mohammad Hatem and others such as Tapan Chowdhury, Syed Nasim Manzur and Lubna Haque.
“We explained to them that our ongoing initiatives will help strengthen our market share in the US,” he said.
When asked about a letter to US President Donald Trump, Shafiqul said the letter itself was a strong message.
