Chief Justice Dr Syed Refaat Ahmed said that the judicial reform efforts have made remarkable progress in the past eight months.
"Judicial reform is not merely a technical sectoral improvement, but has itself become a symbol of transformation," he said on Saturday while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar titled "Judicial Independence and Efficiency," organized by UNDP at a hotel in Rangpur city.
The chief justice said that the judiciary is the primary branch of the state, which for decades has been actively working towards internal reform.
He continued: "At the heart of this initiative lies the judiciary's ability and authority to independently design and implement its own reform programs. Over the past eight months, this effort has seen unprecedented achievements. The next step is to fulfill these goals and ensure that the progress is sustained in the future."
He further remarked that, as an institution, the judiciary has never come this close to achieving full separation of powers.
"If this opportunity is wasted in any way, it will severely harm the dignity, integrity, and relevance of the judiciary. Therefore, my message is clear—each of you must take responsibility," he said.
"I hope this message resonates strongly and equally across the country."
