Former Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed will become a member of the Supreme Court Secretariat Commission.
The advisory council granted both policy-level and final approval to the draft Supreme Court Secretariat (Amendment) Ordinance 2026 to this effect.
The announcement was made on Thursday during a briefing at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka by Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam. He added that the advisory council also approved, in principle and finally, the draft Personal Data Protection (Amendment) Ordinance 2026.
Additionally, the draft Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (Amendment) Ordinance 2026 received both policy-level and final approval, while the draft Bangladesh Forest Industries Development Corporation Ordinance 2026 received only policy-level approval and awaits final endorsement.
The council also granted ex-post approval to the Third Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC-3), prepared by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
According to the press secretary, the formation of the Supreme Court Secretariat Commission requires only a minor legal amendment, allowing retired chief justices to become members of the commission.
