Online train ticket sales suspended since Thursday night

With the counter software also down, only handwritten Black Paper Tickets (BPT) are being issued at the stations

Update : 04 Apr 2025, 05:09 PM

Online train ticket sales via the website and mobile app have been down since Thursday night, with intercity ticket sales at station counters also suspended.

The simultaneous disruption has caused significant inconvenience for passengers.

Reports of the issue emerged from Kamalapur Railway Station and were widely shared on social media platforms on Friday.

Intercity train tickets are typically sold entirely online.

However, with the counter software also down, only handwritten Black Paper Tickets (BPT) are being issued at the stations. These are standing-only tickets, as no seat reservations are currently available.

Passengers waiting at counters told the media that there is no way to verify seat availability, and only handwritten standing tickets are being provided.

Meanwhile, many people have expressed their frustration on social media, questioning why the service was suspended without any prior notice.

Bangladesh Railway Director General Md Afzal Hossain said: "Last night, the ticket sales website server became slow. While trying to fix that, the entire system shut down. We are currently serving passengers with printed tickets, although all of our advance tickets have already been sold out."

"We have been trying to fix it since last night. We have been informed that it should be resolved by noon today (Friday)," he added.

Notably, Shohoz-Synesis-Vincen JV is responsible for managing ticket sales for the Bangladesh Railway.
