The stage is all set to hold the main Eid Jamaat at the National Eidgah Maidan on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.

Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the most important religious festivals for Muslims, will be celebrated on Monday, subject to moon sighting.

At a press conference on Saturday, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator M Shahjahan Mia said that prayer spaces have been prepared to accommodate 35,000 devotees at a time.

The DSCC is preparing the National Eidgah Maidan for Eid prayers to ensure that the devotees can perform their prayers peacefully and smoothly.

People from various walks of life, including members of the Advisory Council, diplomats, and dignitaries, will offer their prayers at the National Eidgah Maidan.

Urging the city dwellers to join the main Eid Jamaat on time, he emphasized that, like previous years, all arrangements have been made to ensure the devotees can offer their prayers comfortably and safely.

The Meteorological Department has forecast no rain on Eid day.

However, all necessary preparations have been made for alternative arrangements in case of any adverse weather conditions, he added.

“If any inclement weather occurs, an alternate congregation will be held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 9am,” he said.

Members of law enforcement agencies, including the police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and other plain-clothed forces, will be on duty round the clock under special security arrangements.

Furthermore, necessary measures have been taken for the convenience of the devotees in terms of ablution and sanitation facilities.

A medical team and ambulance services will be on standby to provide primary treatment and emergency healthcare services.

There will be adequate provisions for drinking water, and comfortable carpets will be laid out.

Devotees have been requested not to bring their own prayer mats or water.

The devotees will enter the Eidgah through two gates, while five exit gates have been prepared for them to leave the venue after the prayers.

A completely separate gate will also be provided for the entry and exit of female devotees.
