The government has expanded its nationwide mobile sales program to provide affordable broiler chicken, eggs, pasteurized milk, beef, and mutton.
Led by the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock and the Department of Livestock Services, this initiative aims to stabilize supply and prices with support from relevant stakeholders.
In Dhaka, the sale of dressed broiler chicken, eggs, pasteurized milk, and beef will continue until the 28th of Ramadan (Friday).
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Livestock on Saturday, the program has benefited a total of 609,430 buyers across the country—396,586 men and 212,844 women—up until Wednesday.
Through mobile sales centers, Tk198.35 crore worth of milk, eggs, dressed broiler chicken, beef, and mutton have been sold, ensuring stable supply and pricing nationwide.
Prioritizing locations where public participation was high during the July uprising, 25 mobile sales centres were launched across Dhaka from the 1st of Ramadan (March 1).
From Sunday, under the ministry’s budget for the special "Animal Protein Supply" program, additional mobile sales centers will be introduced—23 in Dhaka, three in Narayanganj, and 14 across seven divisional offices—expanding the availability of dressed broiler chicken, eggs, pasteurized milk, and beef.
As part of this initiative, products will be sold at the following prices:
- Eggs: Tk100 per dozen (previously Tk108)
- Dressed broiler chicken: Tk250 per kg
- Pasteurized milk: Tk80 per litre
- Beef: Tk650 per kg
