A 5.7-magnitude earthquake was felt across various parts of the country, including the capital, Dhaka, at 11:36am on Wednesday.
According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), the tremor originated near the India-Myanmar border, approximately 149km from the BMD headquarters.
An official from the Earthquake Observation and Research Centre said that the quake was of moderate intensity and was less severe in Bangladesh due to its distant epicentre.
As of now, no reports of damage or casualties have been received.
