Operation Devil Hunt: 561 more arrested

With these latest arrests, the total number of individuals detained under Operation Devil Hunt has reached 12,492

A total of 561 people were arrested across the country as part of the ongoing Operation Devil Hunt in the past 24 hours till Saturday.

This information was confirmed to the media by AIG (Media & PR) of the Police Headquarters, Enamul Haque Sagor on Saturday evening.

Besides, 662 others were arrested in connection with various warrants and ongoing cases during the same period.

With these latest arrests, the total number of individuals detained under Operation Devil Hunt has reached 12,492.

AIG Enamul Haque Sagor said that law enforcement officials recovered two locally made single-barrel shotguns, 10 rounds of ammunition, 62 grams of gunpowder, three machetes, one iron cleaver, one dagger, two iron rods, and a wooden club from the arrested individuals during the operation.

The police official further mentioned that this special operation will continue as part of efforts to control crime.

Earlier, on February 7, an attack on students and the general public took place in Gazipur, resulting in several casualties. 

Following this incident, high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, law enforcement agencies, and other security bodies held a meeting and decided to strengthen the country's security measures.

Consequently, Operation Devil Hunt was launched on February 8 as a special crackdown.
