Eminent theatre personality Syed Jamil Ahmed has announced his resignation from the position of director general of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
On Friday, during a speech at an event held at the Shilpakala Academy, he unexpectedly revealed his decision.
It is known that Jamil Ahmed was the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the Munir Chowdhury First National Theatre Festival, organized by the Academy's Training Department.
On stage, he handed his resignation letter to Md Wares Hossain, the secretary of the Academy.
Regarding the resignation, Mohammad Wares Hossain said: “As the secretary of Shilpakala, I have merely received this letter, but no official has formally accepted it yet.”
"The responsibility for accepting the resignation lies with the secretary of the Ministry of Culture," he added.
