Gold prices drop

The new prices will take effect from Friday

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has announced another reduction in gold prices, cutting the rate by Tk2,403 per bhori.

With this adjustment, the price of 22-carat gold has been set at Tk150,967 per bhori (11.664 grams), down from Tk153,370.

The announcement came in a press release signed by Masudur Rahman, chairman of the Bajus Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring, on Thursday.

The new prices will take effect from Friday.

This marks the second price reduction in February, following five consecutive hikes earlier in the month.

As per BAJUS, from Friday, the new gold prices per bhori are:

  • 21-carat gold: Tk144,097
  • 18-carat gold: Tk123,510
  • Traditional gold: Tk101,722

Silver prices remain unchanged. The rates per bhori are:

  • 22-carat silver: Tk2,578
  • 21-carat silver: Tk2,449
  • 18-carat silver: Tk2,111
  • Traditional silver: Tk1,586

Bajus had previously reduced gold prices on February 23, which took effect on February 24. The metal had been trading at that rate until this latest adjustment.
