Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has warned that legal action will be taken against any law enforcement personnel found negligent in the ongoing nationwide special operation to control crime.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday after laying wreaths at the graves of the martyred army officers at Banani Military Graveyard, he emphasized the government's commitment to justice and accountability.
"This year’s commemoration of the Pilkhana massacre is being observed differently," he said.
"It has been officially declared as Martyrs’ Army Day, and we are here to honor that."
He further said that a commission was formed to investigate the 2009 Pilkhana massacre, which began its work on January 24. The commission is expected to submit its report within three months, based on which those responsible will be brought to justice.
When asked about the special operation launched on Monday evening to strengthen law and order, the adviser said: "The outcome of the operation is for you to evaluate. However, if any member of the force is found negligent, they will face legal action. No one will be spared."
