Police have increased security around the Gulshan-Mohakhali road as Titumir College’s blockade enters its fifth day.

Over a hundred students from the college formed a procession inside the campus, blocking the road in front of the college around 12:15pm on Monday.

A heavy presence of law enforcement was seen throughout the area to manage the protest. Water cannons were stationed at the Mohakhali-Amtoli intersection, and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel were observed maintaining vigilance in the area.

Meanwhile, due to the ongoing roadblock, the general public has expressed frustration with the students. On social media, traffic alert groups have also criticized the protest, highlighting the significant inconvenience caused to people from all walks of life.

Regarding the situation, the Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (ADC) of the Gulshan Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Md Al Amin Hossain, said: "We are on alert to prevent any sabotage, disorder, or destruction. However, if the students engage in peaceful protests, we will not engage in any confrontation with them.”

When asked about the difficulties caused to people due to the roadblock, the police officer said: "We are repeatedly trying to explain to the students not to block the road, as it is causing immense inconvenience to the public. We have advised them to avoid blocking roads. However, if any disorder occurs, we will not tolerate it."
