GMP Commissioner: Public transport to be suspended from midnight for Akheri Munajat

Akheri Munajat of the first phase of Bishwa Ijtema will take place between 9am and 9:30am on Sunday. 

In this regard, public transport in the Tongi area will be suspended from midnight on Saturday, according to Dr Nazmul Karim Khan, commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP).

He shared this information during a press conference at the control room of Bishwa Ijtema ground at 10am on Saturday.

The GMP commissioner further said that from midnight on Saturday, vehicular movement will be restricted on Tongi-Kamarpara Road, Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway from Tongi to Bhogra Bypass in Gazipur, and Abdullahpur to Baipail in Ashulia.

Additionally, vehicles travelling towards Mymensingh and Gazipur will be directed to take the Konabari route via Gabtoli, while those coming to Dhaka from Mymensingh will be instructed to use the 300 Feet Road via Bhogra Bypass.

During this period, no freight vehicles or other transport will be allowed on these roads. However, all vehicles related to Ijtema will be allowed to operate normally.

GMP Commissioner Dr Nazmul Karim Khan stated that discussions have been held with the elders of Ijtema. 

They have confirmed that the Akheri Munajat will be conducted between 9am and 9:30am on Sunday. 

He assured that the highest level of security measures has been taken to prevent any untoward incidents. He expressed confidence that there would be no chaos or disorder.

It is noteworthy that Maulana Zubair Ahmed, the senior leader of Tablighi Jamaat Bangladesh, as well as the Imam and Khatib of Kakrail Jame Mosque, will lead the Akheri Munajat.
