Update : 30 Jan 2025, 07:37 PM

On the night of February 14, the holy Shab-e-Barat will be observed.

The moon of the month of Shaban of the Hijri year 1446 was not sighted in the sky of Bangladesh on Thursday.

Therefore, the month of Shaban will be counted starting from Saturday.

This decision was made during a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee at the Baitul Mukarram Islamic Foundation on Thursday evening. The meeting was chaired by Dr AFM Khalid Hossain, the chairman of the National Moon Sighting Committee and adviser on Religious Affairs.

Dr AFM Khalid Hossain said: "The moon of the holy month of Shaban of 1446 Hijri year has not been sighted anywhere in the sky of Bangladesh today (Thursday). As a result, tomorrow, Friday, the holy month of Rajab will complete its 30th day, and from Saturday, the holy month of Shaban will begin. In light of this, the holy night of Shab-e-Barat will be observed on the night of February 14."
