Adviser to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Dr AFM Khalid Hossain has said that policies for mosques are being formulated, salaries for imams will be grade-based, and since imams, muezzins, and khatibs play a crucial role in building society, their well-being is essential for societal prosperity.
He made these remarks on Monday during an exchange meeting with teachers of mosque-based child and mass education programs, as well as khatibs, imams, and muezzins, at the auditorium of Patuakhali Islamic Foundation.
During the event, the Adviser also said: "Some agencies mistreat pilgrims during Hajj by providing substandard food or not accommodating them in promised locations. If such complaints are brought to us, actions will be taken. The cost of Hajj has been reduced into two categories."
Addressing minority issues, Dr AFM Khalid Hossain said: "None of the incidents of attacks on minorities in Bangladesh occurred due to religious extremism; they were politically motivated. Regarding the persecution of minorities, 92 cases have been filed, and 72 individuals have already been arrested. Legal actions are being taken against the accused, and they will face exemplary punishment. In Bangladesh, people of all religions have the right to practice their faith."
