In observance of Martyred Intellectuals Day on Saturday, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) urged residents to use alternative routes in certain areas of the capital.
The announcement was made in a press release on Thursday.
According to the release, the president, chief adviser, chief justice, advisers of various ministries, foreign diplomats, senior government officials, and leaders of different organizations will visit the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in Mirpur on that day.
To ensure smooth traffic flow, the DMP has requested all types of vehicles—including buses, trucks, covered vans, cars, microbuses, CNGs, rickshaws, and vans—to avoid Mirpur Mazar Road (from Mazar Road crossing to Mirpur-1 crossing) and use designated alternative routes from 4am to 9:30am on Saturday.
The alternative routes are as follows:
- Vehicles heading to Mirpur via Ashulia and Beribadh Road should take the Nawaberbagh crossing through Gudaraghat and Rainkhola crossing (Zoo Road).
- Vehicles crossing the Shah Ali Mazar area via Mazar Road crossing should use the route through Technical Mor, Ansar Camp, Bangla College, and Mirpur-1 Road.
- Vehicles traveling from Mirpur-10 Roundabout to Mirpur-1 and Mazar Road towards Gabtoli should take a U-turn at Tanin Gap from Mirpur-1 and proceed via Nawaberbagh or Diyabari crossings through Brothers Gap to reach Gabtoli.
- Dhaka-bound vehicles from Gabtoli should turn left at Brothers Gap and travel via Beribadh, Diyabari crossing, and Nawaberbagh crossing through Gudaraghat and Rainkhola crossing (Zoo Road).
- Vehicles from Darussalam Thana area should avoid the road near 10 No. Community Center and instead use the Golartek route via Palpara Ghat to Gabtoli Beribadh Road through Diyabari and Nawaberbagh crossing.
The DMP has requested city residents to follow these directions and use the alternative routes during the events.
Public cooperation has also been sought to ensure smooth traffic management on this occasion.
