Biman Bangladesh Airlines is celebrating a three-day security week to raise awareness among passengers and workers of the national flag carrier.
The programs of the week began on Sunday and will continue till Monday, said a press release.
The programs were inaugurated by Biman Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Dr Md Safikur Rahman at the Headquarters of Biman.
He cut a ribbon to announce the opening of the week amid the presence of directors and senior officials of Biman.
Manager (Security) Major Mahmudul Hasan gave an overview on the security measures of Biman.
He highlighted the department's commitment to providing security to passengers' baggage, cargo, aircraft, and installations, and its reputation for excellence.
Major Hasan emphasised the use of state-of-the-art body cameras and CCTV surveillance for round-the-clock monitoring.
Additionally, he said, the department conducts thorough cabin checks after passenger disembarkation to recover and return forgotten valuables.
The Security Department also generates significant revenue by providing security services to other airlines, Major Hasan added.
To further enhance security awareness, the Aviation Security Department is distributing leaflets to passengers and flight attendants at the airport and various Biman facilities, said the release.
Information booths and banners have been set up to educate the public about security-related issues, it added.
Biman directors, senior officials, and members of the Security Department, among others, were present at the event.
