New CEC, 4 election commissioners take oath

Sworn in by Chief Justice at Supreme Court Judges' Lounge

The newly appointed Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin, along with four election commissioners (ECs), officially took their oaths at the Supreme Court Judges' Lounge. 

Chief Justice Dr Syed Refaat Ahmed administered the oath-taking ceremony at 1:30pm on Sunday.

Earlier, the CEC and the four ECs arrived at the Supreme Court premises in the afternoon to take their oaths. 

On Thursday, former Secretary AMM Nasir Uddin was appointed as the Chief Election Commissioner. Along with him, the names of the four Election Commissioners were also announced. 

The four Election Commissioners are: former additional secretary Anwarul Islam Sarkar, retired district and sessions judge Abdur Rahmanel Masud, former joint secretary Tahmida Ahmed, and Brigadier General (retd) Abul Fazal Mohammad Sanaullah.

They were appointed by President Md Sahabuddin under Article 118(1) of the Constitution.
