National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Wednesday asked the Directorate of National Consumers' Right Protection (DNCRP) to conduct drive against fake cosmetic dealers.

A NHRC press release said the commission asked the DNCRP to form a team comprising the members of drug administration, Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI), and police to conduct the drive on regular basis against the adulterated cosmetics and the dealers.

The commission issued the suo-moto order as it noticed a media report that people are being cheated by purchasing adulterated cosmetics from the market.

NHRC chairman Dr Kamal Uddin Ahmed emphasized that “consumer right is a human right” which might be undermined by the bad practice of some selfish and unscrupulous traders and lack of proper supervision, the press release said.

Coordination among the government agencies can help people getting good result, he added.
