During a visit to the burn unit at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where two injured power workers are being treated after being electrocuted while working on a transmission line, Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan said the incident was due to negligence.
“It was not an accident; it was complete negligence and irresponsibility. Strict action will be taken against everyone involved."
The adviser said that those responsible for activating the line while work was still in progress would be held accountable.
He emphasized that DPDC, the company, and the contracting firm cannot evade responsibility for the incident, which resulted in one fatality and two severe injuries.
He instructed hospital authorities to ensure comprehensive treatment for the injured and ordered the provision of hospital cabins for them.
He also directed that DPDC assign personnel to the hospital on a continuous basis to assist.
The adviser expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and injured, assuring them of full support. "No compensation can replace a human life, but the current interim government will provide complete assistance to the families affected,"
He also directed that the family of the deceased receive Tk500,000, the severely injured Tk200,000 Taka, and those injured 100,000 Taka. Additionally, he confirmed that the government would cover all medical expenses for the injured.
Earlier, he visited the accident site in Maniknagar and called for an immediate investigation into the cause of the incident.
One worker was killed and two others injured while working on a transmission line in the capital.
This incident occurred on the evening of Monday, during the replacement of a high-voltage (HT cable) power line in the Maniknagar area.
The deceased was identified as a power line worker Md Nabiul Hossain, while the injured are Masum Mia and Robiul Islam, who are currently receiving treatment at DMCH.
