Martyr Abu Sayed, who became the symbol of the July-August uprising, passed his honors final examination with a CGPA of 3.30, securing 14th place in the combined merit list.
This information was revealed in the results published on Sunday with the approval of Begum Rokeya University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Shawkat Ali.
While announcing the results, the vice-chancellor said: “Our talented student, Shaheed Abu Sayed, is no longer with us. But his final undergraduate examination results have been published. Among 69 students, Abu Sad secured 14th place in the merit list. It brings us some comfort, but his absence leaves us in sorrow. I pray for his soul’s eternal peace.”

On July 16, protesters marched five kilometres through Rangpur city to Begum Rokeya University, with Sayed joining them. Clashes erupted with quota supporters, and police fired rounds of rubber bullets to disperse the crowd.
Despite the chaos, Sayed stood firm, refusing to budge. At one point, he was shot in the chest and fell to the ground.
He was immediately taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital, where the attending physician declared him dead.
