Deepto TV journo murder: DNC suspends deputy director

He is the prime accused in the murder case

The Deputy Director of the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC), Mohammad Mamun, has been suspended over the murder of Tanjil Jahan Islam Tamim, a broadcast journalist at Deepto TV. 

He is the prime accused in the Tamim murder case and is reported to be absconding, according to the police.

Sources from the DNC said that Mamun has been placed on leave and a proposal related to this has been sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs. Preparations for a departmental case against him are underway.

So far, police have arrested six individuals in connection with the Tamim murder case. 

The arrested are—Mohammad Abdul Latif, Mohammad Kurbaan Ali, Mahin, Mojammel Hossain Kabir, Bandhan, and Mohammad Russell. They are all currently on a four-day remand.

BNP leader Sheikh Robiul Alam Robi is the third accused in this case. He is also absconding, and police are conducting extensive operations to arrest him. 

The BNP has issued a show cause notice to Robi regarding his alleged involvement in the criminal activities.
