A Bangladeshi expatriate has been killed in a road accident in Saudi Arabia.
The incident occurred on Sunday morning in the city of Abha.
The deceased was identified as Shakil Hossain, 23, from Raipur upazila in Lakshmipur. Shakil was the son of farmer Alim Uddin Majhi from the Mazir house in the Ward no 1 of the South Charbanshi Union of Raipur. He was the youngest among eight siblings.
Shakil's elder brother, Monir Hossain, reported that due to financial difficulties, they are unable to bring Shakil's body back to their village in Bangladesh.
Monir Hossain shared that Shakil had traveled to Saudi Arabia six months ago through a relative, Ayub Ali Gazi, after borrowing approximately Tk7 lakh.
In Saudi Arabia, he worked as a cleaner. He died on the spot when he stepped out of a vehicle and stood on the road.
Currently, his body is in the mortuary of a government hospital in Abha, Saudi Arabia.
Bashir Hawlader, a member of the South Charbanshi Union and a social worker, expressed sorrow over Shakil's tragic death, stating: "We are also grieving with the family. We urge the governments of Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia to assist in bringing his body back home."
