The government has taken strict measures to ensure that the Hindu and Buddhist people of the country peacefully observe their holy festivals, Durga Puja and Chibor Daan.

Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus’s Deputy Press Secretary Apurba Jahangir said this thing on Tuesday.

Apurba said: “The government has set up IP cameras in each puja mandaps of the country to monitor from the respective UNO Office and police station to ensure the security of Durga puja.”

About security of minority communities, he said the interim government has already started working on the security concerns voiced by the minority communities and it has been informed that Puja mandaps will be monitored instating IP cameras from UNO offices and police stations across the country.

He also said that the task force monitoring the market price and supply chain of daily essentials has started working, and the price will soon be controlled.

Apurba made these remarks at a press conference on Tuesday evening at the Foreign Service Academy of Capital on behalf of the press wing of the Chief Adviser.

He also said that the government is talking with the leaders of the Buddhist community so that they can peacefully perform their upcoming Chibor Daan festival.

Recently, some leaders of the Buddhist community said that they will not perform Chibor Daan this year because of security.

On the other hand, the Hindu religious people also expressed concern about the safety of their puja Mandaps.

Apurba also said that the interim government launched a special phone number to provide information about the injured and their medical conditions during the July uprising.

He revealed the hotline number 16,000 and the website jssfbd.com for the July Memorial Foundation.

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam and Deputy Press Secretary Azad Majumder were also at the briefing.
