The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thundershowers across all divisions, including Dhaka, in 24 hours from 9am on Friday.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are likely at most places over the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions, with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at some places across the country, said a met office update.
The highest rainfall in the country, 72 millimetres, was recorded in Aricha in the 24 hours leading up to 6am on Friday.
Day and night temperatures may drop slightly across the country, according to the BMD.
The highest temperature in the country, 32.4°C, was recorded in Khulna’s Koyra over the past 24 hours until 6 pm on Thursday, while the lowest temperature, 23.5°C, was recorded in Chittagong’s Sandwip up to 6am on Friday.
Meanwhile, the monsoon trough extends from Bihar and West Bengal to Assam, passing through the central part of Bangladesh.
Monsoon activity is strong over Bangladesh and moderate to strong elsewhere in the northern Bay of Bengal.
A low-pressure area is likely to form over the coastal areas of West Bengal and adjoining southwest Bangladesh within the next 24 hours.
