An activist of the Awami Swechasebak League and his associate have been hacked to death in Shajahanpur upazila of Bogra.
During the attack in Asekpur union on Sunday evening, which left Sagar Talukdar, 29, and his associate Md Swapan, 28, another person named Mukhtar Hossain reportedly had his right hand's wrist severed.
Sagar had multiple cases filed against him with various police stations, including murder cases.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Media) Suman Ranjan Sarkar attributed previous enmity to the double murder.
According to locals and the police, at around 7pm, Sagar, Swapan, Mukhtar and a few others were in front of a poultry farm in the area when a group of armed assailants attacked them with machetes and other sharp weapons, killing Sagar and Swapan. The attackers also severed Mukhtar’s right wrist.
Shajahanpur police confirmed that two bodies had been identified and they were in the process of being recovered, but Mukhtar’s whereabouts remained unknown.
