Bangladesh Mahila Parishad has condemned the attack and assault on mountaineer Shayla Bithi in Dhanmondi on Saturday.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the organization said that the news of the attack on Shayla caught their eyes as she was assaulted in broad daylight in the capital.
The statement pointed out that the violence and assault on women have been continuing in different parts of the country in recent times, which is creating hindrances in the way of the free movement of women in society.
The statement mentioned that such incidents are also pointing a finger at the law and order situation of the country.
It further demanded identification and a speedy trial of the culprits behind the incident.
On Saturday afternoon, renowned mountaineer Shayla Bithi was attacked by a group of miscreants while she was crossing an overbridge in Dhanmondi. She later filed a complaint with the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station.
