Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain has said that the Chittagong Hill Tracts unrest is an internal issue of Bangladesh.
"We see this as an internal issue and are trying to resolve it. Four advisers are going there today, and they are working to create a peaceful environment through discussions, ensuring that the conflict does not escalate further, he said, when asked.
The journalist asked: “There is unrest in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. We are receiving various narratives on social media about this. Some are writing that after August 5th, there was a political narrative from student groups or certain political parties to stir up the Seven Sisters. Is another country involved in attempting to destabilize Bangladesh? Do you have any information on such claims?”
"I cannot answer that, as I am unaware of any such involvement," the adviser responded to the question of third-party involvement.
"There have been some disruptions to law and order, and efforts are being made to resolve them. Section 144 was imposed yesterday. We have been trying to solve the problem, and we hope to succeed in this," he said.
"Those who were injured or killed are our people. At the same time, there is a decision that those proven to be involved in any crime will face punitive measures. Action will be taken against them according to the law. This is the government's position. The government is sincerely trying to resolve the issue."
