Dr Md Jahangir Alam, a professor in the sociology department of Dhaka University, has been appointed as the new vice chancellor of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU).
JKKNIU Chancellor and President Mohammed Shahabuddin appointed Jahangir as the VC on Thursday, said the Ministry of Education in a notification, signed by Deputy Secretary Md Shahenur Islam.
The notification said the chancellor can cancel the appointment at any time if he deems it necessary.
Dr Jahangir Alam will get the salary and allowances equal to his current position as vice chancellor. He will enjoy other benefits related to the position as per the rules. He will have to remain on the university campus full-time as the university's chief executive officer.
