Six fishing trawlers have capsized off the coast of Cox's Bazar due to strong winds in the sea.
The bodies of two fishermen have been recovered so far.
Besides, 30 to 35 fishing trawlers are missing.
The deceased were identified as Jamal, a resident of Charamba in Lohagara upazila of Chittagong, and Nurul Amin, a resident of the Bashkhali area.
Six trawlers sank capsized to stormy winds at Laboni Channel and Inani Point on Friday. Later, these trawlers floated to various points on the sea beach.
Executive Magistrate (Tourism Cell) Tanvir Hossai of the district administration confirmed the matter.
Osman Gani, senior in charge of Sea Safe Lifeguard, said: “During their duty, the lifeguards saw a trawler floating, and immediately we carried out a rescue operation.”
Meanwhile, the sea became turbulent due to a low-pressure area formed in the sea.
Delowar Hossain, Cox's Bazar Fishing Trawler Owners Association's secretary, said: “About 30 to 35 fishing trawlers are missing due to adverse weather conditions. The weather office has issued a level three warning and advised all types of fishing trawlers in the sea to return to safety.”
