Update : 13 Sep 2024, 01:44 PM

A mild heatwave is affecting Mymensingh, Sylhet, and several other districts including Dhaka, Tangail, and Rajshahi.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department forecasts the heatwave may ease in some areas within the next 24 hours, starting from 9am on Friday.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers with gusty winds are expected in most parts of the country, including Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, and Chittagong divisions.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in certain areas.

A well-marked low-pressure system has formed over southeastern Bangladesh and the Northeast Bay, which is expected to intensify and move northwest.

Meanwhile, a land depression over Uttar Pradesh is gradually weakening.

Temperatures across the country may drop slightly, with Thursday’s highest temperature recorded at 37.4°C in Mymensingh and the lowest at 23.8°C in Bandarban.

Cox’s Bazar saw the heaviest rainfall at 378mm over the past 24 hours.
