Narayanganj Taqi murder: Accused Azmeri Osman’s car driver arrested

A day later, his body was found floating in the Shitalakshya River

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the private car driver of late lawmaker AKM Nasim Osman’s son Azmeri Osman, in connection with Narayanganj’s sensational Tanvir Muhammad Taqi murder case, from Dhaka’s Mirpur area early Wednesday.

Col Tanvir Mahmud Pasha, commandant of the RAB-11, confirmed the matter saying that they arrested the driver Jamshed Sheikh from the Mirpur area around 4:45 am and he was directly involved in the murder.

Earlier, Safayet Hossain Shipon, Mamun Mia and Kazal Hawlader were arrested on Sunday and Monday, respectively in connection with their involvement in the murder, he said.

The arrestees are close to Shamim Osman family and their involvement in the murder were found in the investigation by the RAB, he said.

According to the case statement, Azmeri Osman, nephew of former Awami League lawmaker Shamim Osman, who has a strong dominance in Narayanganj, and his cohorts abducted 17-year-old schoolboy Taqi and killed him by torturing him on March 6, 2013.

Later, his body was taken to the Shitalakshya River by the private car driven by Jamshed.

A day later, his body was found floating in the Shitalakshya River.
