Hasina sued in 5 more murder cases

Relatives of the victims lodged the cases in different metropolitan magistrate courts in Dhaka

Five separate murder cases have been filed against former prime minister and Awami League president Sheikh Hasina, party general secretary Obaidul Quader, and 339 others, in connection with the deaths of five people during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

Relatives of the victims lodged the cases in different metropolitan magistrate courts in Dhaka on Monday.

Sharif's Murder

Saif Arafat Sharif’s mother Maryam filed a case accusing 94 individuals, including prominent figures such as Shamim Osman and Nazrul Islam Babu, over her son's murder.

Sharif, who was volunteering in front of the Jatrabari police station, was hacked to death on August 14 while managing traffic.

Yasin's Murder

Shilpi Akhter, the mother of Saidul Islam Yasin, filed a case against Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, and 13 others for her son's death, which occurred at the same location.

Obaidul's Murder

A case was filed by Md Ali, a relative of Obaidul Islam, who was killed during the movement.

Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, and 58 others are named in this case.

Other notable accused include Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Hasan Mahmud, Ramesh Chandra Sen Draupadi Agarwala, and Harunor Rashid.

The complaint alleges that on August 4, around 5pm, in front of the Kajla petrol pump in Jatrabari, leaders of the 14-party alliance, including Awami League members, fired indiscriminately at the crowd, resulting in Obaidul's death.

Russell's Murder

Russell was shot and killed near the Kajla footbridge on August 5, around 10:30am.

His brother Rubel has filed a case against 36 individuals, including Sheikh Hasina and Obaidul Quader.

Other accused include Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Moshiur Rahman Mollah Shajal, and Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun and Harunor Rashid.

The case was filed in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saddam Hossain, who directed the Jatrabari police to accept the complaint as evidence.

Shubo's Murder in Dhanmondi

Shubo was killed during the movement on July 19 near Road No. 3 of Dhanmondi police station.

His mother, Renu, filed a case against 138 people, including Sheikh Hasina and Obaidul Quader, in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Farah Diba Chanda.

The court has directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate the allegations.

Notable accused in the case include Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Abdullah Al Mamun, Harunor Rashid, Mainul Hossain Khan, and Dr Samanta Lal Sen.

HSC Candidate Attempted Murder Case

A case was filed against Sheikh Hasina and 33 others for the attempted murder of HSC candidate Asfiq Ibn Arman Isa of Oxfordian Laboratory College during the movement.

Isa's father, Abuzar Md Arman Ali Jewel, lodged the case in the court of Dhaka's Metropolitan Magistrate Afnan Sumi. The court has directed the PBI to investigate the matter.

Among the other accused in this case are Obaidul Quader, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Saber Hossain Chowdhury, Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, Habibur Rahman, Harunor Rashid, Biplab Kumar Sarkar.

During the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, Isa was shot on July 19 in the Banasree area of Rampura police station.
