The devastating floods of the southeastern region of Bangladesh have damaged 6,542 kilometres of roads and 1,066 bridges and culverts.
The southeastern region of the country has experienced devastating floods in recent times.
To ensure the provision of civic amenities in flood-affected areas, all departments, agencies, and institutions under the Local Government Division are actively engaged in relief efforts.
As of Tuesday, the Local Government Division has distributed 3.64 million water purification tablets to the 11 flood-hit districts.
According to a press release from the Local Government Ministry, the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) has reported that the recent floods, occurred from heavy rains and upstream water, have initially damaged 6,542 kilometers of roads and 1,066 bridges and culverts.
So far, LGED has repaired 34 kilometers of roads and 69 bridges and culverts.
