Obaidul Quader's bank accounts frozen

Account transactions suspended for 30 days

The bank account of Awami League General Secretary and former Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, Obaidul Quader, has been frozen.

Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) issued this suspension order on Tuesday, sending directives to various banks and financial institutions across the country.

The BFIU's letter stated that if any account is being operated under the name of the mentioned individual or his privately-owned enterprises, transactions in those accounts must be suspended for 30 days under the Anti-Money Laundering Act.

Additionally, if he has any lockers, its use must also be restricted for 30 days.

Obaidul Quader has been serving as the General Secretary of the Awami League since October 2016.

Until August 5, just before the fall of the Awami League government, he held the position of Minister of Road Transport and Bridges.

The former president of Chhatra League, Quader was also a Member of Parliament for the Noakhali-5 constituency.
