Update : 26 Aug 2024, 03:14 PM

The death toll from the ongoing floods in 11 districts of Bangladesh has risen to 23, with more than 5.5 million people affected by the flooding.

This information was obtained from the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief's latest flood situation report, which was updated until 11am on Monday.

The ministry said the flood situation is improving, with water levels in all rivers starting to recede.

According to Sunday's data, 20 people died in the floods, and approximately 5.2 million people were affected.

There was no significant rainfall in the past 24 hours in the eastern districts of Comilla, Brahmanbaria and Feni near the Indian Tripura border and within the internal basins of Tripura, the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre of the Bangladesh Water Development Board reported.

The trend of decreasing water levels in the upstream rivers continues. As a result, the ongoing flood situation in the low-lying areas of Feni and Comilla is improving.
