The Credit and Development Foundation (CDF) has acted swiftly to halt the collection of loan instalments from individuals affected by the recent floods.
Despite these efforts, misleading rumours and fake news alleging that microfinance institutions are continuing to collect instalments have circulated online, it said on Sunday.
The CDF has expressed serious concern over these baseless allegations, suggesting that there may be a conspiracy behind them.
"In response to the flooding crisis, humanitarian aid efforts are being prioritized to assist communities in the affected regions. The focus is on collaborating with small organizations specializing in disaster relief to ensure the effective distribution of essential supplies."
The government, through the Micro-Relief Agency (MRA), is coordinating with local organizations to begin distributing crucial supplies, including food and medicine.
The interim government, led by Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus, has engaged with non-governmental organizations and community delegates to address the worsening flood situation in the northeastern and southeastern districts.
Prof Yunus has urged these organizations to work alongside the government to strengthen relief and rehabilitation efforts in the most affected areas. The objective is to provide comprehensive support and assistance to distressed communities.
All humanitarian organizations are encouraged to unite in combating misinformation and ensuring that relief efforts are conducted efficiently.
The interim government emphasizes the importance of avoiding any actions that could disrupt relief operations or propagate false information.
