A Dhaka Tribune journalist covering the ongoing demonstration related to the non-cooperation movement has been assaulted in Dhaka's Dhanmondi-27 area. The incident occurred around 11:30 am on Sunday.

The journalist, Senior Reporter Nawaz Farhin Antara, was on her way to Kakrail for an office assignment when she noticed a human chain formed by student protesters in front of the EMK Center.

As she approached the protesters, two groups of men armed with sticks and sharp weapons attacked the protesters.

During the attack, the protesters fled while Antara stood at the corner.

At this time, the unidentified assailants surrounded Antara and demanded to know her identity. Despite informing them of her profession, the miscreants verbally abused her, assaulted her, and threatened to beat her up.

Eventually, Antara managed to escape from the attackers and get into her office vehicle to leave the area.

Meanwhile, leaders and activists of the Awami League chased protesters on Road No. 27 in Dhanmondi, reported the daily Prothom Alo.

During this time, firearms were seen in the hands of the party's leaders and activists, and the sound of gunfire was heard.

Some protesters stood next to the Rapa Plaza building on the road at around 11 am. On the other hand, leaders and activists of the Awami League positioned themselves on the road towards Asad Gate, a little distance away.
