Awami League, Chhatra League offices set on fire in Faridpur

Protesters set fire to eight motorcycles

Awami League and Chhatra League offices in Faridpur were set on fire on the first day of the non-cooperation movement on Sunday.

The district Awami League office on Hasibul Hasan Lablu Road was vandalized around 11am on Sunday.

During the time, Awami League activists in front of the office fled. They then entered the office and extensively vandalized it.

Later, the protesters set fire to eight motorcycles in front of the Awami League office.

Around 11:30am, the protesters took over the building of the Chhatra League at Government Rajendra College, which had been turned into the district Chhatra League office, and vandalized and set it on fire.

When the protesters tried to move towards Farid Shah Road, police stopped them at the intersection of Rajendra College and Jail. Police fired rubber bullets, sound grenades and tear gas shells to bring the situation under control. 

The protesters attacked the city Awami League office on Thana Road around 12:45pm.
