Students of Jashore Science and Technology University (JUST) started the protest rally from Palbari at 12pm demanding quota reform in government jobs. The rally paraded important roads and took position in front of the deputy commissioner's office. Students of Government MM College also went there with a procession.

Earlier, the protesters took the position in front of Jessore Press Club on Mujib Road in the city.

During the sit-in, quota reform movement organizer Rashed Khan alleged: “Chhatra League activists attacked Government MM College’s rally. The Chhatra League activists came on some motorcycles and beat up the students with helmets and snatched their banners. At that time, a student named Masum was picked up.”

Jessore Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Razzak initially did not respond to phone calls. He later returned the call, explaining that he had been in an important meeting and hung up the call.

The protesters said: “We are demonstrating against the prime minister's irrational statements and later demanding reforms in all types of quotas. Merit must be prioritized in all sectors including schools, colleges, and jobs. However, the government is not giving this issue the importance it deserves. As a result, we will not leave the streets until their demands are met.”
