National Parliament Deputy Speaker and Pabna-1 MP Advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku has been taken to Dhaka by helicopter for emergency treatment as he suddenly fell ill.
He was taken to Dhaka by a naval helicopter from Bera Abdul Khaleque Stadium at 3:30pm on Friday.
Bera Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Morshedul Islam, said: "After an event, he suddenly fell ill. He is now relatively stable, but his heart condition is not very good, so he was taken to Dhaka for treatment."
On Friday morning, he attended a tree-planting ceremony at the Bera Govt Bipin Bihari Pilot High School field as the chief guest. After the event, he suddenly felt unwell while preparing to plant more trees near his home.
He was quickly taken to the Bera Upazila Health Complex. After feeling better, he was taken home. Later, for advanced treatment, a Navy helicopter airlifted him to Dhaka.
