At least 35 students at Bhola Sadar Upazila's West Charpata Higher Secondary School gradually fell unconscious during class on Tuesday.
Following this, the school administration has declared a three-day general holiday.
Among the students, some have headaches, some have body tremors, some have weakness.
Doctors said that children may suffer from mass physiological diseases.
Assistant teacher of West Charpata Higher Secondary School Abu Syed said that during the class at around 11am, a student called Zahid suddenly became sick and unconscious. Since then, as pupils began to fall unconscious in the classroom, locals and teachers rescued them and transported them to Bhola's 250-bed Sadar Hospital.
Currently, at least 35 students are being treated there.
Principal of West Charpata Secondary School Nazrul Islam said that students of all classes from sixth to tenth grades were affected by this unknown disease. He is very concerned about this.
He also said that a three-day general holiday has been announced in this incident.
Relatives of students who fell ill in this incident gathered at the hospital.
Bhola Civil Surgeon Dr AKM Shafikuzzaman said that it is believed that the children may be affected by mass psychological disease. This disease is usually affected by mental and weather conditions.
The doctors are counselling the students admitted to the hospital, he added.
