Following the directive to remove former National Board of Revenue (NBR) official Matiur Rahman from the board of directors of Sonali Bank, Dr Mohammad Abu Yusuf has been appointed as a new director of the bank.
Mohammad Abu Yusuf, additional secretary of the Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance, has been appointed as a bank director for a three-year term.
The Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance issued a letter informing them to appoint a new director on Monday.
In a letter, the financial division has asked to appoint Mohammad Abu Yusuf as a director on the board of Sonali Bank PLC for a term of three years from the date of his joining.
The letter also instructed to take necessary actions including obtaining approval from Bangladesh Bank.
The letter requested that the Financial Institutions Division be mandatorily informed of Dr Mohammad Abu Yusuf's joining date.
Matiur Rahman, who was removed from his post at the National Board of Revenue (NBR) and transferred to the Internal Resources Division (IRD) of the Ministry of Finance, was also dismissed from his position as director at the state-owned Sonali Bank PLC.
