  • Teesta, Dharla, Dudhkumar water levels may rise as a result
Update : 12 Jun 2024, 01:32 PM

Water levels of major rivers in northeastern Bangladesh are currently receding, a trend expected to continue over 24 hours from 9am on Wednesday, according to the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC).

In addition, the Brahmaputra, Jamuna, Ganges and Padma rivers are also experiencing a decline in water levels, which is likely to persist for 48 hours.

The met office has forecast medium to heavy rainfall in the northern and adjacent upstream areas of the country over the next 24 to 48 hours.

This anticipated rainfall may cause the Teesta, Dharla and Dudhkumar rivers in the north to rise during this period.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions as the situation develops.
