HBO has released a new teaser for its upcoming “Harry Potter” series, offering a first look at the young cast at Hogwarts ahead of the show’s December 25 premiere.
The teaser features Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger. It shows the trio arriving at Hogwarts, taking part in the Sorting Ceremony and beginning their first year at the wizarding school.
The footage also introduces John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Professor Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.
Viewers can also see glimpses of Quidditch, magical lessons, and Harry discovering the Invisibility Cloak, along with scenes connected to the mystery of the Philosopher’s Stone.
The first season will consist of eight episodes and is based on JK Rowling’s “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone." The series is planned as a seven-season adaptation of Rowling’s seven-book series, with each season focusing on one book.
HBO has already renewed the series for a second season, which will adapt “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets."
The wider cast includes Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Elijah Oshin as Dean Thomas, Warwick Davis as Professor Filius Flitwick, and Sirine Saba as Professor Pomona Sprout.
Francesca Gardiner serves as showrunner, while Mark Mylod is directing multiple episodes. Rowling is an executive producer alongside Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and David Heyman.
The series is being filmed at Warner Bros Studios Leavesden in the UK and follows the original 8-film franchise starring Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson as Harry, Ron, and Hermione.
The new “Harry Potter” series will premiere on HBO and stream on HBO Max from December 25, 2026.
