Eid travel: West Zone train tickets almost sold out in 3hrs

  • Website sees 7 million hits in first three hours
  • Tickets for June 13, 14, 15 and 16 will be sold on June 3, 4, 5 and 6
Update : 02 Jun 2024, 06:39 PM

Around 13,500 out of 14,157 tickets for West Zone were sold out in just the first three hours after Bangladesh Railway started selling advance train tickets for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha on Sunday.

Some tickets were still unsold for trains to two divisions -- Rajshahi and Khulna -- as of the filing of this report.

Advance tickets for June 12 were available from 8am Sunday.

West Zone and East Zone tickets are being sold separately to prevent too much pressure on the ticketing website.

Tickets for East Zone were available from 2pm.

Kamalapur railway station Manager Mohammad Masud Sarwar said: “In the first three hours, the website received about 7 million hits. There was a lot of demand for tickets for northern Bangladesh.”

Tickets for June 13, 14, 15 and 16 will be sold on June 3, 4, 5 and 6, respectively.

Like the previous Eid, all tickets are being sold online this time as well. A passenger can purchase a maximum of four tickets online.
