Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked the authorities concerned to strengthen the market monitoring system to control the prices of daily commodities across Bangladesh.
The premier gave the directives to the state minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu while presiding over a cabinet meeting at Tejgaon on Monday.
Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain said this while briefing reporters after the meeting.
The secretary said that the prime minister had given the instructions to strengthen market monitoring in the meeting.
PM: Autorickshaw drivers to be brought under ruleThe secretary said also that although there is no crisis, the prices of several products are increasing. She gave strict instructions to the state minister for commerce to monitor the matter.
Mahbub Hossain said that the prime minister has given permission for battery-run autorickshaws only in Dhaka city considering the suffering of low-income people due to the global situation and commodity prices.
However, battery-run autorickshaws will remain closed on 22 highways as per the earlier decision.
