Met office predicts rain across all divisions

Low-pressure area likely to form over southwest Bay of Bengal

Rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty or squally winds are likely in many areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions as well as a few areas of Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions, with isolated hail, according to the met office.

A mild to moderate heatwave is affecting Khulna and Barisal divisions, as well as the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, Dinajpur and Nilphamari. It may subside in some areas, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department's bulletin for the 24 hours starting from 9am on Monday.

A low-pressure area is likely to form over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas in the next 48 hours and intensify afterwards.

The highest temperature in the country on Sunday was 38.3 degrees Celsius in Mongla and the lowest temperature on Monday was 20.8 degrees in Saidpur.

Sandwip witnessed the most rainfall, at 71mm, in the 24 hours till 6am.

Day and night temperatures may fall by 1-2 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions. It may remain nearly unchanged elsewhere over the country.
